NATCHEZ — Services for Evelyn Murphy Mazique, 85, of Jackson, formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.
Burial will be at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Eastern Star Rites at 7 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Mazique was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Natchez, the daughter of Willie Mae Tolliver and Ernest Murphy. She was formerly employed by Jefferson Davis Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Mazique; one son, Archie Murphy; and three brothers.
Survivors include three sons, Mac Arthur Murphy and wife, Gertrude, and Abraham Murphy, all of Jackson, and Esau Murphy of Flora; two sisters, Freddie Johnson and Hilda Williams, both of Natchez; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
