NATCHEZ — Police have recovered two AR-15 semi-automatic rifles stolen more than a year ago from Sports Center.

Patrol officers stopped a vehicle at 7:15 p.m. Sunday on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive for a noise violation and discovered the weapons on the floorboard of the vehicle, Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

Officers ran the serial numbers of each rifle through a police database and discovered they were stolen.

Each was loaded with a round in the chamber and a 30-round magazine, Mullins said.

Of the vehicle’s four passengers, three were charged with possession of stolen property. The fourth passenger, it was determined, had been picked up without knowledge of the guns.

Those charged were:

– Bobby D. Butler, 30, 114 Rounds Circle.

– Darrius Owens, 18, 18 Anderson Drive.

– Chad Rich Watson, 18, 230 Country Club Drive.

The guns were stolen last March.
