MCCOMB — McComb pitcher Megan Coney held Franklin County to just three hits in a complete-game performance as the Lady Tigers rolled past the Lady Bulldogs 11-1 in five innings Thursday afternoon.
In addition to its struggles at the plate, Franklin County’s defense behind pitcher Rachel Dier had its share of problems. McComb had seven hits and also took advantage of 10 errors committed by the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Tigers scored in all five innings played, including two in the bottom of the fifth to end the game early by way of the 10-run mercy rule. The Lady Bulldogs scored their only run in the top of the fourth inning.
Danielle Farnum had a double and went 2-for-4 to lead McComb at the plate. Franklin County was led by KeKe Collins, who had a double.
Franklin County (9-9-2) will next play at the Bogue Chitto Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs will take on Loyd Star at 2:30 p.m. and Salem at 4 p.m.
