STAMPLEY— Services for Semo “Bud” Green, 85, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 28, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Green was born March 9, 1926, in Jefferson County, the son of Mose Green and Daisy Simon Green. He attended school in Jefferson County and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Mr. Green was owner and operator of Green’s Trucking Company for more than 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, horses, trucks and western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 14 siblings, Bessie Green, Hazel Green, Bessie Carridine, Essie Carter, Moseanna Green, Semonia Jackson, Augusta Warren, Aleine Walker, Annie Jones, Georgia Belton, Hilda Stevenson, Bernice Davis, Daisy M. Green and J.P. Green.
Survivors include three sons, Semo Green of Los Angeles, Gregory Green of St. Louis, Mo., and Kenneth Green and wife, Patricia, of Jackson; two daughters, Carolyn Green Starr of St. Louis and Margaret Spears of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Mamie Lee Mazique of Natchez; three stepchildren, Carl Ware, Doris Maynard and husband, Reo, all of Natchez, and Avonne Walker and husband, Larry, of Mount Pleasant, Texas; one brother-in-law, Lee Arthur Davis of Fayette; 24 grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Michael Rawlings, Samuel K. Carter, Calvin Rawlings, Sametrious M. Sewell, Alfred G. Banks, Phillip Williams Jr., Sidney Gibson and Patrick Hudson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Semo Green Floyd, Kenneth Green, Tommie Walker, Semo Warren, Mose Warren, Saul Jackson, James Davis, Charles Davis and Ernest Davis.
