WATERPROOF — Services for Dennis Charles “DC” Thomas, 84, Waterproof, who died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cypress Grove Baptist Church in Waterproof.
Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Waterproof, the son of Joe and Ruth Taylor Thomas. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in by his wife, Pearlie Randall Thomas; three children, Ocie Simpson, Dennis Charles Thomas Jr., and Debra Thomas; two sisters, Bobbie Arrington and Alberta Watson; and two brothers, Lee Skinner and Herman Shields.
Survivors include six sons, Benjamin Thomas of Jeanerette, La., Ellis Thomas and wife, Rose, of Fort Worth, Texas, Donnell Thomas and wife, Tina, of Kansas City, Mo., the Rev. Dewayne Thomas and wife, Alicia, of San Antonio, Texas, Carl Thomas of Waterproof and Tyrone Thomas of New Orleans; five daughters, Rebecca Moigua of San Jose, Calif., Alberta Seil Smith of Vallejo, Calif., Eliza Ann Taylor and husband, Oliver Williams, of Houston, Texas, Emma T. Bell and Shelly T. White, both of Waterproof; two brothers, Otis Fields of Chicago and Eugene Marshall of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Maggie Mickey of Chicago and Linda T. Brown of Destrehan, La.; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Villistene Gordy of New York, N.Y.
