NATCHEZ — Services for James O. Taylor, 82, of Natchez, died Sunday May 1, 2011, at the Jackson State Veteran’s Home, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Kenneth Stanton Officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez National Veteran’s Cemetery.

Mr. Taylor was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Winona, the son of Dempsey and Rosetta M. Taylor Pamilton. He was a devoted graduate and enthusiastic supporter of Alcorn State University for 59 years. Taylor served actively as a deacon at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church until his health failed. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish and was actively involved in his community.

Mr. Taylor is a former high school teacher and 28-year veteran of the Farmer’s Home Administration, where he worked until retiring.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 59 years, Anne Pearl Taylor; three children, Dr. Belinda and husband Wilson Lee of Nashville, Tenn., Janice Q. Taylor of Marietta, Ga., James Justin and wife Robin Taylor of Annandale, Va., one special devoted niece/daughter, Rosie and husband Charles Holmes of Louisville; four grandchildren, Courtney, Lauren and Whitney Lee and Jared Taylor; two sisters, Rosalee Powell of Seaside, Calif., and Bertha Sommerville of Vaiden; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
