NATCHEZ — Services for Sherrie Lynn Redd Ray, 56, of Natchez, who died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Covington Road Church of Christ with the Rev. Dick Root officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the church.

Mrs. Ray was born Dec. 12, 1954, in Natchez, the daughter of Ellmore Ashley and Erma Dee Yates Redd. Mrs. Ray was a longtime member of Covington Road Church of Christ. She was a Girl Scout leader and was employed by Redd Pest for 40 years.

Sherrie was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Claude Ray; and one brother, Ronald Redd.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Eddie Calvin Ray; one daughter, Maryanne Ashley Ray of Natchez; one son, Charles M. Ray; one brother, Jerry Lee Redd and wife, Bea, of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Gayle Carlock and husband, Dwayne, of Aberdeen and Michele Tarver and husband, David, of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Judy Hill and husband, Jim, of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be the men of Redd Pest Solutions, Jimmy Taylor, Eric Adams, Mike Bramlette, Benton Ables, Ellis Cooks, Jered Anderson and Bradley Carlock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Will Johnson, Ryan Byrd, Tommy McDaniel, The Adams County Volunteer Fire Department and the Adams County Search and Rescue Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, Natchez Adams County Humane Society or a charity of choice.
