NATCHEZ — Five Cathedral tennis players won state championships in the MHSAA Class 1A individual competitions Tuesday.

Cathedral’s Marla Beard won the girls No. 1 singles individual championship after defeating French Camp Catholic’s Hallie Negron 6-0, 6-1.

Sarah Beth Willard and Taylor Beesley defeated Virginia Vorden and Spencer Dennis of St. Joe of Greenville 6-3, 6-3 to nab the No. 2 girls individual championship.

In the No. 2 boys doubles championship, the Green Wave’s Dwain Perkins and Luke Whitaker defeated Tres and Tyler Santucci of St. Joe 6-0, 6-0.
