MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis police have found a body that washed up along the bank of the swollen Wolf River after this week’s Mississippi River flooding has inundated low lying areas of the city.
Police spokeswoman Sgt. Karen Rudolph said the body was found Thursday morning near the bank of the river, which feeds into the Mississippi, in the northern part of the city.
Rudolph said the cause of the death is unknown and they have not yet determined whether the death was flood related. The river crested in Memphis just inches short of the record set in 1937 and hundreds have left their homes for shelters.
