FERRIDAY – Services for Lenette Chatman Williams, 77, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating.

Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of Garvin Chatman and Delia Hodges Chatman.

She was a mother of the church and an usher. She was a retired chef and cook with Cock of the Walk and other area restaurants.

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. A.L. “Freddie” Williams; one daughter, LaDawna K. Williams; one granddaughter, LaDawndra Williams; one brother, Luther Chatman; and two sisters, Jeanette Martin and Nettie Chatman.

Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Williams of Dallas and Lisa Williams Griggs of Ferriday; three sons, George Chatman, Kitress Williams and Alfrederick Williams Jr., all of Ferriday; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pall bearers will be friends of the family.
