NATCHEZ — Services for Ernest Joseph Davis, 76, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Davis was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Adams County, the son of Titus Davis and Mary Middleton. He served as a deacon at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church. He was also a Golden Life Member of the NAACP and had a life membership with United Paperworkers Local 1113 AFL-CIO, CLC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Annie B. Green, Helen E. Davis, Beulah Johnson and Dorothy Davis; three brothers, Titus Davis, Will Davis and William Davis; and one grandson, Joseph Anthony Davis Jr.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife, Luruth Davis; one daughter, Cynthia Davis; two sons, Ernest Bruce Davis and wife, Carolyn, of Missouri City, Texas and Joseph Anthony Davis Sr. of Natchez; two devoted stepsons, Herbert Lewis and Henson Lewis; two adopted children, Romona Bass and Justin Lewis Davis; three sisters, Martha Campbell, Lucille Martin and Irene Bacon; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
