BRANDON — Services for Mary Catherine Hootsell, 55, who died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at the Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Ott and Lee Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hootsell was born in Natchez and has lived in Jackson for the past 26 years. She attended College Drive Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pearl.

Mary was a registered nurse and throughout her career she worked at Jeff Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez, Crossgates Manor Nursing Home in Brandon, Glenburney Nursing Home as nursing director. She also worked at Mississippi Department of Medicaid in Jackson.

Mary was very creative and enjoyed sewing; listing to all kinds of music; her passion for the past few years for playing computer games; and her love for her two Chihuahua dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beau and Cora Harris; one daughter, Laura Christin Hootsell; and an adopted brother, Wilmer Scott Harris.

Survivors include one son, Davis Abbott and wife, Marcia, of Jackson; one granddaughter, Emily Abbott of Jackson; and two close friends, Katherine Stripling and husband, Glen, of Pearl and Judy Herring and her boyfriend, John Bolmes, both of Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, 5221 Greenway Drive, Jackson, MS 39204-3212.
