NATCHEZ — Services for Alva Newell Strong, 101, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Strong was born March 30, 1910, in Loyd Star, the daughter of William Albert Newell and Sally Wallace Newell. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Natchez and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pat Henry Strong; and one son, Henry Carlos “Bud” Strong.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Louise Inmon; two granddaughters, Jean Holland and Charlotte Burris and husband, Danny; two great-grandchildren, Charlette Wright and husband, David, and Jonathan “Jon Boy” Holland; two great-great-grandchildren, Kari Wright and fiancé, Matt Woods, and Sabastian Wright; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Stutzman, Jerry Holloway, Chuck Gilbert, John Leckie, Donald Estes and Harold House.
