JONESVILLE — Services for Alta Mae Hamilton, 84, of Jonesville, who died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Good Road Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Brian Taylor, the Rev. Chris Hamilton and the Rev. Chad Franklin officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Mrs. Hamilton was born May 10, 1927, in Marion, La., the daughter of Dan and Ethel Howard. She was a homemaker and an active member of Good Road Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Loyce Howard, Bernice Jack Howard and Toby Howard; and three sisters, Pauline Childress, Ollie Mercedes and Beatrice McNeely.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Thomas Hamilton; three sons, Billy Ray Woods and wife, Fran, of Jonesville, James Owen Hamilton and wife, Pam, of Aimwell, La., and Robert Andrew Hamilton and wife, Charlotte, of Olla, La.; three daughters, Judy Catherine Deville, Norma Hamilton and Donna Book and husband, Tommy, all of Jonesville; one sister, Lola O’Briant of Clayton; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Will Woods, Charles Ellard, Chad Deville, Doyle Howard and Lavoyde Howard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Elton Tolbert, Kevin Windham and Jason Windham.
