Shots fired on Franklin Street

NATCHEZ — An unknown suspect fired multiple shots outside of Club Paradise on Franklin Street early Sunday morning, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

A bullet shattered a 29-year-old man’s windshield when the suspect fired shots in the vehicle’s direction. At 3:56 a.m., the man reported that the glass cut him, and he was subsequently sent to the hospital.

A 20-year-old female reported to police at 3:49 a.m. that she was walking to her car outside the club when she heard two gunshots. Upon returning to her car, she found two bullet holes near her windshield.

Another individual reported at 4:13 a.m. that his driver’s side window shattered after a bullet struck it outside of the club.

At approximately 4 a.m., police closed the bar down, Mullins said.

The cause of the shooting remains unknown, he said, and an investigation is ongoing.
