ROXIE — Services for August McDaniel, 89, of Roxie, who died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Patient’s Choice Medical Center in Port Gibson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Kirby.

Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery in Kirby under the direction Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. McDaniel was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Franklin County, the son of Sam and Ideana Smith McDaniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lucinda McDaniel; one daughter, Theresa McDaniel; five sisters, Laura McDaniel, Mary McDaniel, Lillie McDaniel, Berniece McDaniel and Irene McDaniel; six brothers, L.C. McDaniel, Hardy McDaniel, Rankin McDaniel, Monroe McDaniel, Ray McDaniel and Sonny McDaniel; one son-in-law, Ben Monk; and one brother-in-law and his wife, Levi and Georgia Shell.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee McDaniel of Marrero, La., and Corrine McDaniel of Vidalia; one son, August McDaniel Jr. of Roxie; one sister, Helen Chatman of Natchez; one brother, Abell McDaniel of Long Beach, Calif.; four grandchildren, Renee Stainson and husband, Gary, Alonzo McDaniel, April McDaniel Jordan and husband, Torrey, and Cynthia McDaniel; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
