NATCHEZ – Services for Mack Seale Jr., 89, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Seale was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Gloster, the son of Mack Seale Sr. and Dorotha Temple Seale.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He worked as an independent logger for a number of years and retired from International Paper Company in Natchez.
Mr. Seale was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, L.B. Seale, Tully Seale and Mason Seale; and two sisters, Mozelle Seale Huff and Myrtle Seale Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Jo Seale; two stepdaughters, Brenda Jones of Natchez and Jo Lynn Gore and husband, Brent, all of Ferriday; two grandchildren, Courtney Hicks and husband, John, of Natchez and Lori Gore of Baton Rouge; three great-grandchildren, Erin Hicks, John Ashton Hicks and Emily Hicks; two sisters, Estelle Boutwell of Suntag and Elizabeth Brown of Charleston, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Reynolds, Darwin Huff, Gary Boutwell, Louis Guedon, Bobby Beard and John E. Hicks III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Maxie Boutwell, J.T. Seale, O.G. Havard, John E. Hicks Jr., Edward Havard, Kenneth Johnston, Brent Gore and the members of Cyprus Grove Hunting Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
