Relay to light up night sky tonight

Tonight our community will pause to have a little fun, do a little dance and come together for an amazingly good cause — raising money to help fund cancer research.
Perhaps no other event captures the true spirit of our community more than the annual Miss-Lou Relay for Life.
Dozens of volunteers and hundreds of participants come together each year and at the end of the night, months and months of work results in amazing memories, a good time and tremendously generous giving to the American Cancer Society.
This year’s Relay will certainly be one for the record books due to the tenacity of the event organizers.
Flushed from its recent home on the Vidalia Riverfront by record flooding, the event was delayed more than a month.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, as the floodwaters were just beginning to recede, organizers faced another obstacle — the site would not be ready to roll.
Enter some quick-thinking organizers and the leadership of the City of Natchez.
The Relay is relocating to the Natchez bluff tonight and should have a spectacular view of the river as the sun sets.
Floods and delays may seem like trouble, but the Relay organizers are among the best we’ve ever seen and they know that no amount of problems can hold a thimble to the struggles of those who are fighting cancer.
To put one smile on a survivor’s face or to raise one extra dollar, a dollar that might lead to a cancer breakthrough would make it all worthwhile.
We encourage everyone to head to the bluffs tonight, if you can, and give to this worthy cause.
