VIDALIA — Services for Joy Pitts Patrick, 88, of Vidalia, who died Friday, June 17, 2011 in Delhi, La., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Patrick was born June 29, 1923, in Delhi, La., the daughter of AD John Pitts and Claudia Thompson.
Patrick thought there was no better place in the world than her old home place in Dunn, La., a small community outside of Delhi. However, upon moving to Lake St. John in 1963, her love of the people of the Concordia Parish area gave her a new home and friends whom she grew to love. She worked at the Concordia Bank in Vidalia and Ferriday for many years and prior to retirement served as head teller and cashier. Lakeshore Baptist Church became her church home where she served as music director for many years. When she became unable to live alone, she relocated to St. Joseph’s Assisted Living in Monroe, La., where she made many, many new friends. Regardless of where Patrick lived, her presence filled all of our lives with joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Patrick and beloved grandson, Clint Patrick.
Survivors include Kerry “Bubba” Patrick and his fiancée Sybil of Monterey; Johnny Patrick and his wife Sharon of Ferriday; Joyce Hunter and her husband Jerry of Delhi, La.; six grandchildren who called her Mamaw, Cindy Tassin, Mike Kyle, Sean Patrick, Sabrina Smedley, Keri Arnold and Brian Patrick; 12 great-grandchildren who loved their Mamaw and one sister, Audie Watson of Egan, La.
Pallbearers will be Sean Patrick, Brian Patrick, Robby Tassin, Joseph Tassin and Ronny Tyson.
