Man arrested in Natchez allegedly shot victim in Baton Rouge

NATCHEZ — The man arrested Saturday in Adams County on murder charges allegedly shot his victim in Baton Rouge June 12.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant charging Nathan Jarrod Johnson, 18, of 2124 General Taylor Ave., Baton Rouge, with attempted second-degree murder June 13, said Casey Hicks, spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s department.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office pulled Johnson over for speeding Saturday and discovered that he was wanted for murder after checking his license, Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said.

Johnson fled Baton Rouge after the shooting, Hicks said.

He had signed an extradition waiver by Tuesday morning, clearing the way for his transport back to Baton Rouge.
