Good news rains down on Miss-Lou

Rains came just in time last week, refreshing the world around us and squelching the heat, at least momentarily.
Though the coming week looks to be a hot one, we enjoyed the rains while they were here.
Let’s review a few other good headlines from last week.
– The Natchez-Adams County Airport is reporting higher than normal revenues due to the Mississippi River flooding. Aircraft viewing the water from the air fueled up in Natchez, reminding us that every disaster has a silver lining for someone.
– Approximately 500 guests filled the Natchez Convention Center and the local shops and restaurants last week as a part of the Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth conference. It’s great to have guests in town, especially when they bring their pocketbooks.
– Supporters of the Senior Citizen’s Center gathered at the Natchez Mall Saturday morning to participate in a Walk-A-Thon to benefit the center. Money raised will help buy meals and support programs for local seniors.
– Dozens of local drama kings and queens were honored Saturday night for their talents on stage. The Natchez Little Theatre hosted its annual Standing Ovations awards night. NLT is a great community partner, providing entertainment for locals and attracting tourists to town.
– Natchez resident Kera Fennix is heading to the Miss Hospitality pageant and taking plans to promote Natchez along with her. It’s wonderful to see young residents proud of their hometown and ready to promote it.
In the coming week it may be best to stay indoors, but we are sure the good news can battle the heat anyway.
