Vandalism not new to Duncan Park

NATCHEZ — The most recent damage of the Duncan Park golf course has caused many club members and even the City of Natchez to step up and try to find the culprits.

But last week’s damage of the sixth and 18th holes of the course was not nearly as extensive as the damage cause by last summer’s vandalism, course superintendent Greg Brooking said.

“Last year’s was the worst I’ve ever seen in my life,” Brooking said. “I have never seen any green devastated like that.”

Last August the green was trenched as deep as 2 feet in some places Brooking said. The green still has scars from that incident almost a year later.

Brooking said this summer’s damage to the 18th green would probably take three to four weeks to repair.

Last week’s vandalism was the third time the course has been tampered with in the last three years.

None of the culprits have ever been caught, Brooking said.
