Rain adds to good week in Miss-Lou

Did you get wet this weekend?
Thankfully some much-needed rain fell in the Miss-Lou Saturday, helping ease worries for residents and farmers, though those making a living from the fields still need steady watering from Mother Nature.
Thunderstorms also helped usher in a few other good things last week. Let’s review some of the good news.
4 Natchez-Adams School District students performed better than they did last year in nearly every category of their state tests. Though there’s still plenty of room for growth, these positive steps are in the right direction. Thank you to all the students, teachers and parents who are working hard.
4 Several stretches of a new nature trail at Historic Jefferson College opened Saturday. The trail includes nature markers along the way to help educate those who pass on what they may see around them. Sounds like a good excuse to go for a walk.
4 Concordia Parish leaders are pursing a grant that would bring temporary, free medical care to area residents as part of a military training program. It’s great to see local leaders thinking outside the box to find ways to help the community.
4 Trinity Episcopal Day School student Madeline Iles recently completed summer studies at the Governor’s School. The state program gave her college experience and three college credit hours. Iles wasn’t afraid to get a start on her bright future, and we wish her the best.
As we begin the final full week before local and state elections, we are sure plenty of handshakes and smiles are ahead.
