NATCHEZ — Services for Freddie Louis Johnson Sr., 87, of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 31, 2011, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ on Country Club Drive.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Murray Temple Church of God in Christ on Perrault Street and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ.

Mr. Johnson was born March 7, 1924, in Harriston, the son of Ora Lee Sewell and was raised by his great-aunt, Effie Weatherspoon.

He was a well-known educator in the Natchez community, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by both his mother and great-aunt.

Survivors include his wife, Leola; two sons, Freddie Jr. and wife, Ouida, of Alpharetta, Ga., and Clemont and wife, Linda, of Duluth, Ga.; three daughters, Alletia and husband, Ed, of Bonaire, Ga., De’Andra and husband, Herchel, of Collierville, Tenn., and Cheryl and husband, Victor, of Alpharetta; one godchild, Felece Wright of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepsister, Pearl Butler of Seattle, Wash.; other relatives include the Weatherspoons of Memphis, Tenn., the Waltons and the Moors Vicksburg, the John Wades of Inkster, Mich., the Banks of Natchez, and the Malones of Fayette; the Murray family; and a number of nieces, nephews, pastors, church members and friends.
