GLOSTER — Services for Charles “C.W.” Cavin, 77, of Crosby, who died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bernard Waites officiating.
Burial will follow at Mars Hill Cemetery near Crosby under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cavin was born April 1, 1934, the son of Walter Cavin and Florence Felter Cavin. He was a retired machinist with BASF Wyandotte Corp.
Mr. Cavin was a member of Perrytown Church of Christ near Crosby.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Hazlip Cavin; four brothers, Sydney Cavin, Jesse Cavin, Earl Cavin and Ray Cavin; and three sisters, Annie Gibson Ford, Ida Perry and Augustine Nettles.
Survivors include three children, Sherry Johnson and husband, Bobby, of Crosby, Charles Cavin Jr. and wife, Holli, of Prairieville, La., and Wanda Edwards and husband, Jessie, of Zachary, La.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth McGraw of Gloster.
Pallbearers will be Dave Carter, Randy Curtis, Joe Gibson, Shannon Ashley, Steve Cox, Harold Ashley, Carl Nettles and Rodney Cavin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Cavin, A.D. Carter, Donnie Stephens, James “Boots” Westbrook and Dr. David McGraw.
The family acknowledges Celine Dalton and Shannon Landen and is extremely grateful for the special care that Mr. Charles received from Hospice.
