The Rev. Robert Strickland and Brenda Strickland, both of Natchez, announce the engagement of their daughter, Shanell Strickland to Edward Reed, son of Mittie Reed and Carl Archer of Port Gibson.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Natchez High School and is attending Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Natchez. She is employed by the Department of Corrections in Woodville.

She is the granddaughter of the late Leon and Annie Washington and the late Jessie and Louise Strickland, all of Natchez.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Port Gibson High School. He is employed by Mississippi Department of Corrections in Fayette.

He is the grandson of the late Ned and Catherine Reed and the late Mable Archer, all of Port Gibson.

The wedding will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Daughters of Zion Baptist Church.

A reception will follow at the Shrine Club on Morgantown Road.

Family and friends are invited.
