Week of Aug. 5-11
Christopher Byrd charged with providing false identification — case remanded to files. Also charged with possession of a controlled substance — case bound over to a grand jury.
James Deal pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Sentenced to two years probation plus random drug testing. Fine set at $326.00.
DiMarco Johnson charged with burglary of a building and burglary of tools. Case bound over to a grand jury.
Arveanious Smith charged with burglary of a building and burglary of tools. Case bound over to a grand jury.
Quiero Johnson pleaded guilty to malicious mischief. Sentenced to 90 days jail time suspended upon payment of fine and restitution.
Adams County Circuit Court Cases
Friday, Aug. 5
Annie Galtney pleaded guilty to grand larceny on Sept. 17, 2010, and was sentenced to three years suspended and placed on post release supervision for three years. The subject has complied with all the requirements while on probation and is placed on a non-reporting status with a waiver of supervision fees. All other conditions of the probation remain the same.
Tuesday, Aug. 2
Conner J. Johnson pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine on March 28, 2006, and placed on three years probation. Having successfully completed the probation, the defendant is discharged from probation and the charge is dismissed.
Monday, Aug. 1
Joseph Wilson pleaded guilty to grand larceny on No. 3, 2008, and was sentenced to three years suspended and placed on probation for three years. Having successfully completed the probation, the probation is terminated.

Emanuel I. Griffin has his post-release supervision revoked after the court found him clearly in violation of the terms of his supervision by failing to report. The defendant admitted a drug problem. Must serve three years of the remaining balance of his sentenced in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Defendant must also receive drug rehabilitation and treatment by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Isaiah Williams was indicted by a grand jury on April 8, 2011 for burglary of a dwelling. Case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed because there is insufficient evidence to sustain a conviction against the defendant.
Jennifer Owens pleaded guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge in count I of malicious mischief, less than $500.00. Sentenced to six months to serve in the Adams County Jail, suspended, and placed on informal non-reporting probation for five years. Must immediately pay restitution of $500.00 and all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200.00. Defendant can have no contact whatsoever, either direct or indirect, with the victim in this case. Pursuant to the plea agreement, count II (felony malicious mischief) is retired to the inactive files.
Eric Washington pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting, third offense. Sentenced to five years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections, after receiving full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for four years. Must pay restitution of $89.97, all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee.
Bruce Leonard Cauthen pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting, of a value in excess of $500. Sentenced to 10 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. After serving five years, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for five years. Must pay all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee. Defendant is to receive full credit for any time already served.

Michael Chatman pleaded guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge of simple assault, two separate counts. Sentenced on each count to six months to serve in the Adams County Jail, consecutive, for a total sentenced of one year. Must pay a fine of $500 on each count, or a total of $1,000 and all court costs. Further ordered, for good cause and as a special condition of this sentenced, that the defendant have no contact whatsoever with the minor victim. Defendant is to receive full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail, which exceeds one year.
Danvers Van Norman has his post-release supervision revoked after being clearly in violation of the terms and conditions of his supervision by recently pleading guilty to a misdemeanor offense in Louisiana. However, the court finds that the defendant is willing, at his expense, to enter an inpatient treatment facility in the State of Louisiana for anger management, and other issues. Ordered that the defendant be released, pending further order of the court, on the condition that he enter such inpatient treatment facility. Defendant shall notify the court within seven days of the beginning of such treatment, and also at the conclusion thereof.

Dwayne Young was indicted by a grand jury for automobile burglary on April 8, 2011. The defendant pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling in and was sentenced accordingly. In light of the plea of guilty and sentencing in and per agreement with the Defendant is enter nolle prosequi and dismissed. Javarrea Jones was indicted by a grand jury for five counts of uttering a forgery on Jan. 28, 2011. The defendant pleaded guilty to identity theft and was sentenced accordingly. In light of the plea of guilty and sentencing and per agreement with the Defendant, the case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed.
Brandon Collins was indicted by a grand jury for aggravated assault and armed robbery acting in concert with others on April 8, 2011. The defendant pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced accordingly. In light of the plea of guilty and sentencing and per agreement with the Defendant, the case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed.
Joseph Evans was indicted on two charges of uttering a forgery on April 8, 2011. Case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed because the defendant is now deceased.

Joseph England pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting (3rd offense) on July 28, 2010. On July 7, 2011, the defendant was re-sentenced to serve five years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections suspended and placed on five years non-reporting probation. Further ordered that the defendant could return to live and reside in the State of Louisiana. The Court further prohibited the defendant from entering onto any Wal-Mart premise.

Smith also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Driver’s license suspended for six months. Fine set at $464.
Monday, Aug. 8
Luther D. Dunning, 30, charged with simple assault – domestic violence. Case remanded to files – victim does not wish to go further with the case. $100 to be paid Aug. 12.
David Hill Jr., 32, charged with simple assault – domestic violence. Case remanded to files – victim does not wish to go further with the case. $100 was paid on that date.
Thomas W. McLeod III, 33, charged with disorderly conduct – failure to comply with officer, speeding (55 mph in a 35 mph zone). and no seat belt. All cases were dismissed – officer failed to appear.
Brad Lyles, 31, pleaded guilty to simple assault – domestic violence. Sentenced to 30 days with 28 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve two days in jail. Fine set at $594.
Timothy Queen, 29, charged with embezzlement. Case dismissed – subject to judge review of papers brought in by defendant.
