NATCHEZ — Graveside services for H.W. “Pop” Davis Jr., 91, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Natchez National Cemetery with Russell Crum officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Davis was born March 30, 1920, in Jena, La., the son of H.W. Davis Sr. and Emma Davis. He was retired from Sun Oil Company in Delhi, La. He was Methodist.
Mr. Davis proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Courtney Suzanne Crum and infant, Cooper; one brother, Wayne W. Davis; and one sister, Ruth Whatley.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Gladys Davis; three daughters, Rebecca Head and husband, Victor, of Monett, Mo., Jean Cooper and husband, Clayton, of Delhi and Barbara Crum and husband, Ronnie, of Ferriday; special family friend, Joann Bareswell of Delhi; one sister, Elizabeth Howell of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Steingraber, Nathan Head, Christy Cooper, Clay Cooper, Cari Cooper, Ryan Crum and Lindsey Crum; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
