BASTROP, La. — Funeral services for Harold Clyde Lucas, DC, 75, of Ferriday, formerly of Bastrop, La., who died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop with Rev. Jim Ingram and Rev. Karl Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Ernest Cemetery, Hampton, Ark., under the direction of Golden Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Golden Funeral Home.
Dr. Lucas was a member of Lake St. John Community Baptist Church. He lived and practiced in Bastrop for 46 years. He was a former president and Paul Harris Fellow in Bastrop Rotary Club, a 32 degree Mason with the Mt. Gerzim Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Chiropractic of Louisiana Association and in the Arkansas Army National Guard as a SP3. Dr. Lucas attended the Palmer College of Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa.
Dr. Lucas is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilma McElfresh Lucas; one son, Donald Wayne Lucas and wife Sandy of Bastrop; one daughter, Brenda Lucas Naff and husband Kenneth of Ferriday; four grandchildren, Lance B. Lucas, Candie L. Woodson, Jeana N. Spring and Lucas D. Naff; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; and his first great-great-grandson on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. Lucas is preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Clemmie Lucas and a brother, Tommy Lucas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Smith, Dr. Al Henderson, Dr. Randy Hawthorne, Frank Carroll, Larry McDonald, and Gary Lowery. Honorary pallbearers will be Barnie Smith, Charles Moore, Ronald Pettis and George Perry.
The family requests that memorials be made to Lake St. John Community Baptist Church in Ferriday at 4279 Hwy 568, Ferriday, La. 71334.
