JENA, La. — Graveside services for Lula Wilson Bates, 85, of Jonesville, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, in Huntsville, Ala., will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jena Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Webber officiating.

Burial will follow at under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bates was born July 10, 1926, in Utility, La., the daughter of John and Lorena Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Paul Bates Sr.; her parents; three brothers, Riley, Lopez and Henry S. “Bud” Wilson; and one sister, Aline Schneider.

Survivors include one son, Paul Bates Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Huntsville, Ala.; one daughter, Marilyn Casey and husband, Bart, of Westport, Conn.; one sister, Johnny Ruth Freeman and husband, Robert, of Houston, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Wilson and wife, Elizabeth, of Jonesville; and seven grandchildren.
