Week of Sept. 2-8:

Margaret Leake guilty of false pretense. Sentenced to 90 days in jail suspended.

Sonya Galmore guilty of trespass less than larceny. Sentenced to six months jail time suspended. To serve 48 hours in jail. No contact. Two years probation. Fine set at $100 plus court costs. Restitution set at $2,500.

Marvin Thompson guilty of misdemeanor trespassing. Fine set at $100 plus court costs.

Adams County Circuit Court Cases

Tuesday, July 19:

Michael Waller pleaded guilty to grand larceny. Sentenced to six years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. After receiving full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on post-release supervision for five years. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200 on or before Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.

Thursday, July 28:

Stanley Jackson pleaded guilty to embezzlement. Sentenced to six years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. After receiving full credit for any time served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining portion of the sentence to be served on formal reporting post-release supervision through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for five years. Must pay restitution of $2,208 and all court costs, including prosecution costs of $200.

Tuesday, July 26:

Brittany Jones was indicted by a grand jury for robbery on April 8. Her accomplice, a minor, was handled in youth court. Additional evidence indicates that the minor was the primary offender. Based on this new information, the case is entered nolle prosequi and dismissed against Jones because there is insufficient evidence to sustain a conviction against the defendant.

Raymond Bailey pleaded guilty to uttering a forgery. Sentenced to 10 years in the MDOC. After receiving full credit for any time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the MDOC for five years. Must pay restitution of $1,610.21, all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee. The defendant must pay all of said amount prior to being released on supervision. Pursuant to the plea agreement with the state, count II was retired to the inactive files. This sentence is to run concurrently with the defendant’s previous sentence.

Frank Cooks Jr., who was indicted on Nov. 17, 2006, for armed carjacking, has his post-release supervision revoked after he admitted that he had not reported as directed and continued to have a drug problem. The court found that the defendant was clearly in violation of the terms and conditions of his supervision. Must serve the remaining balance of his sentence in the MDOC and must receive intensive therapeutic drug rehabilitation and treatment by the MDOC.

Johnny Yearby Jr., who was indicted on two counts of uttering a forgery (counts II and III) on Aug. 14, 2009, has his post-release supervision revoked after he admitted that he had walked off from the Hinds County Restitution Center because he was upset about the amount of money being applied to his court ordered payments. The court found that he was clearly in violation of the terms and conditions of his supervision. The court was subsequently provided with a report on a recent violation in the Adams County Jail of bringing contraband into the jail. The report is filed with the court file. Must serve all of the remaining balance of his sentence in the MDOC.

Roosevelt Stokes pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of burglary of an automobile, as an habitual offender. Sentenced to seven years in the MDOC, as an habitual offender, without benefit of suspension, reduction, parole or probation. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200. Defendant is to receive full credit for any time already served in the Adams County Jail.

Thursday, July 21:

Carlos Williams pleaded guilty to embezzlement. Sentenced to six years in the MDOC. After receiving full credit for any time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the MDOC for five years. Must pay restitution of $6,527.87, all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee. Defendant is to pay not less than $100 on or before the first day of each month, starting August 2011. Pursuant to the plea agreement, all remaining counts are retired to the inactive files.

Michael Carter pleaded guilty to felony fleeing or eluding law enforcement officer. Sentenced to five years in the MDOC. After receiving full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the MDOC for four years. Must pay all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee. Count I was dismissed, pursuant to the plea agreement.

Kenneth L. Warren pleaded guilty to uttering a forgery. Sentenced to six years in the MDOC. After receiving full credit for time already served in the Adams County Jail, the remaining balance to be served on formal reporting supervision through the MDOC for five years. Must pay all court costs and a $200 prosecution fee. The remaining counts were dismissed.

Justin Lamar Minor pleaded guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge of simple assault. Sentenced to six months in the Adams County Jail, suspended, with the defendant placed on informal non-reporting probation for five years. Must immediately pay a fine of $500 and all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200. Must also pay restitution of $2,252.59 to the Victim Compensation Commission. The conditions of the probation are the defendant’s future good behavior, that he violates no laws, have no firearms and payment of the aforesaid amounts.

Friday, June 17:

Jillinda Leggitt pleaded guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge of false pretense, less than $500. Sentenced to six months in the Adams County Jail, which the defendant receives full credit for having already served. Must pay restitution to the victim of $337.50 and all court costs, including a prosecution fee of $200. Defendant was allowed 90 days to pay said amounts.

Friday, Aug. 26:

Keadrian D. Clark, 25, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $444.

Felicia A. Green, 21, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct — failure to comply with officer. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $444.

Michael T. Logan, 23, charged with public drunkenness. Case remanded to files. Logan pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $344.

Monday, Aug. 29:

Iris Rounds Johnson, 51, found guilty of two counts fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer in a motor vehicle. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior on each count. Fine set at $519 on the first count and $544 on the second count. Johnson found not guilty of resisting arrest and found guilty of failure to obey police officer directing traffic. Fine set at $220. Johnson also found guilty of reckless driving. Fine set at $494.

Tyrone D. Milligan, 38, found guilty of simple assault — domestic violence. Sentenced to 30 days with 29 days suspended for two years pending good behavior. Fine set at $594.
