VIDALIA — Today is the deadline to register to vote in the Oct. 22 primary election in Concordia Parish.

The voter registration office, on the bottom floor of the Concordia Parish Courthouse, is located in suite K. The office will be open to registrants between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Those not registered today cannot vote in the primary election, but will have a chance to register again to vote in the general election — scheduled for Nov. 19.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s office says those registering in person are required to prove age, residency and identity. A Louisiana driver’s license, birth certificate or other documentation, which reasonably and sufficiently establishes your identity, age and residency, can be submitted.

To qualify to register one must be a U.S. citizen; be at least 17 years old (but must be 18 years old prior to the next election to vote); not be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony; and reside in the state and parish in which registration is sought.
