NEW IBERIA, La. — Services for John A. Kennedy, 83, of Broussard, La., who died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, in Lafayette, La., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, La., with the Rev. Johnny Ward, pastor of Delcambre Baptist Church, officiating.

Masonic rites will be conducted after the service.

Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday, both at the funeral home.

Mr. Kennedy was a native of Stonewall and a former resident of New Iberia, La. He was employed by Rebel Rentals as an oil field salesman for a number of years. He was currently employed by Pipe Pros and Dishmon & Bennett Specialty Company, Inc., both in Broussard.

Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp, National Guard of Mississippi and a Reserve of the U. S. Army. He was also a member of the Delcambre Baptist Church in Delcambre, La.

Mr. Kennedy was a Mason and a member of Aurora Lodge 193 F&AM and Shriner’s International.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Z. and Orie Strickland Kennedy; one son, John “Kenny” Kennedy Jr.; three brothers, Hubert, Carl and Bennie Kennedy; and one sister, Faye K. Guillot.

Survivors include his wife, Maudry Romero Kennedy of New Iberia; two daughters, Tracy M. Perry of Washington and Debbie M. Kiss and husband Joe, of Huntsville, Texas; one son, Barron Kennedy Sr. and wife Heather, of New Iberia; one brother, Preston “Stoney” Kennedy and wife Betty of Laurel; seven grandchildren, Jason Exelby of Natchez, Danielle Lively and husband, Robert, of Fort Benning, Ga., Joshua Kiss of Lake Jackson, Texas, Kristen Hoover and husband, Brad, of Pearland, Texas, Laura Hicks of Atlanta, Barron Kennedy II and Luke Kennedy, both of New Iberia; and 10 great-grandchildren.
