JONESVILLE — Services for Nolan Robert “Rob” Cotton Jr., 54, of Jonesville, who died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Jonesville with the Rev. George Wortham and Tom Milliken officiating. Music will be provided by Elizabeth Field of Jonesville.

Graveside services will be at the church followed by burial at Harrisonburg Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cotton was born Sept. 1, 1957, the son of Nolan Robert “Bob” Cotton Sr. and Dorothy Cotton Lazarus. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon.

Mr. Cotton was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in agri-business. While at LSU, he was an active rodeo rider and was a member of the Block and Bridle Club. He was owner and president of Four Rivers Insurance Agency, Inc., in Jonesville from 1980 to 2005, until he was until he was forced to retire because of poor health. He was also an active cattle rancher.

Mr. Cotton was president of Catahoula Ducks Unlimited from 1981 to 1984, president of the Jonesville Lions Club, president of the Four Rivers Chapter of National Wildlife Turkey Foundation, chairman of the Four Rivers Friends of NRA, member of the Cenla Agents Committee, the Independent Insurance Agents Association, the Professional Insurance Agents Association and the Small Agents Advisory Council. He was chosen as an Outstanding Young Man of America member in 1980.

Rob was an avid sportsman, hunting was one of his passions. His other great passion was his love for his two daughters, Mary Hannah Cotton and Katlyn Elizabeth Cotton.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Scott Cotton.

Survivors include his daughters, both of Denham Springs, La.; his mother and stepfather, Willie Lazarus of Jonesville; one sister, Susan Cotton Hammett and husband, Bryant, of Ferriday and Baton Rouge; one brother, Tom Cotton and wife, Terri, of Jonesville; five nieces and nephews, Sarah Cotton, Seth Cotton, Ginny Martinez, Elizabeth Tanner and Danielle Hammett; two great-nieces, Evie and Ellie Martinez; and a number of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tom Cotton, Joe Davis, Craig Edwards, Benn King, Jeff McClelland and Glen Tiser.

Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Cotton, Mike Bonnette, Jeff Tarpley, Ronnie King, Rodney Sones and David Wade.
