VIDALIA — Services for Gill Polk, 58, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Vidalia.

Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery in Vidalia under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Polk was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Ferriday, the son of Snetville Sr. and Catherine Carr Polk. He was retired from the City of Vidalia Sanitation Department.

Mr. Polk was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church and served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Zeek Polk; three brothers, Murphy Carr and wife, Scilis, of El Sobrante, Calif., Snetville Polk Jr. and wife, Juanita, of Vidalia and Raephel Polk of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Doris Flaherty of Detroit, Peggy Cain and husband, the Rev. Chester Cain and Beverly Warner of Monroe, La.; one aunt, Eloise P. Foster of Ferriday; one uncle, Lethel Polk Sr. and Bellwood, Calif.; two godchildren, Jamie Causey of Baton Rouge and Tiffany Taylor Spencer of Vidalia; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
