NATCHEZ — Services for Rosie Lee Walker, 87, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Walker was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Adams County, the daughter of Tommie Davis Sr. and Edrena Bacon Davis. She was a retired educator, having taught in the Hinds County school system for more than 40 years.
She was a Baptist and a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vertis Walker; and one sister, Mamie Thornburg.
Survivors include four children, Mary Walker of Nigeria, Booker Walker and Calvin Walker, both of Jackson, and Cedric Walker of San Francisco; two brothers, Tommie Davis and wife, Edwina, and Robert Davis and wife, Dorothy, all of Natchez; six grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
