Balloon weekend was excellent

Wow!
What else can you say about the weekend? We hope all of you took advantage of the opportunity to see gorgeous balloons and enjoy the festivities in town.
Balloons flew in five races and lit up the night sky for a glow. The weather was perfect, with winds that allowed skilled balloonists to show their stuff.
This year’s Great Mississippi River Balloon Race was certainly a success and easily the highlight of the week.
In fact, we’re so tired from all the fun that it’s difficult to remember what happened before 7 a.m. Friday. But let’s try!
– The Natchez Community Alliance is in the early stages of creating an Adopt-a-Highway-type program for downtown sidewalks. It’s a wonderful idea, and we hope many in town will get involved in keeping our wonderful Natchez Trails clean.
– A new traveling exhibit highlighting the stories of the Forks of the Road is ready to hit the road. Thanks to Ser Seshs Ab Heter-C.M. Boxley for working to ensure we learn from our history.
– Students in the Jobs for Mississippi Graduates program at Natchez High are getting exposure to why learning high school’s lessons is important. Last week a businessman came to the school to conduct mock job interviews with the students. It’s a life skill we should teach more of in school, and we are glad our public schools offer this program.
We are certainly tired now, after a weekend of fun, rest up, but be ready for more. Fall festivals and soon Christmas festivities will keep us all running.
