Antiques Forum kicks of Wednesday

The Pilgrimage Garden Club of historic Natchez is proud to present its 34th annual Antiques Forum, “Our American Heritage: Pleasures of the Past.”

This year, our forum will take place Wednesday through Saturday. We are most excited about this year’s forum and send you a special invitation to join us as well as to bring a friend.

This year’s premier Antiques and Art History Forum includes scholarly lectures by renowned experts such as Wendell Garrett, editor-at-large for The Magazine Antiques, who has again contributed his expertise in developing this year’s forum.

Other presenters are Michael Brown, curator, Bayou Bend Collection; Carol B. Cadou, Robert H. Henry Smith senior curator, vice president for collections, Mount Vernon; Charles F. Hummel, curator emeritus, Winterthur, adjunct professor; Angela Mack, executive director of the Gibbes Museum of Art; and Mimi Miller, executive director, Natchez Historic Foundation.

We have also arranged some extra special activities for our forum guests who would like to arrive Wednesday, Oct. 19.

We will offer complimentary tours to many of our historic houses, and several private homes which will open exclusively for you.

Several downtown businesses will offer exclusive discounts on your purchases. Please make sure to have your forum badge while shopping.

The highlight of Wednesday’s events is a seated dinner at Lansdowne, one of the finest Greek Revival homes in the South.

The descendants of the builder still occupy the home, and most of the furnishings are original. This event is sold out.

A welcoming reception at one of the Pilgrimage Garden Club’s Landmark properties, Stanton Hall, outstanding lectures with coffee breaks, a delectable lunch at our Carriage House Restaurant, plus the Chairman’s Farewell Tour of historically significant homes with a light lunch served make for a two or three day unequaled experience.

Add seeing forum friends and making new ones to this agenda, and you have an event you cannot miss!

Please send in your registration soon as attendance is limited. We look forward to seeing you later this week.

Please note that all events are for registered forum participants only.

Susan Graning is a co-chairman for the Antiques Forum.
