HATTIESBURG — Natchez High’s offensive woes continued in Hattiesburg Friday night.
The Bulldogs were unable to score against the Tigers defense and came home with a 19-0 Region 3-6A loss.
Bulldogs’ head coach Lance Reed said the team moved the ball at times but killed itself with mistakes.
“We had opportunities and just had untimely penalties that stopped drives,” he said. “Tonight just wasn’t our night.”
Through five region games, the Bulldogs are scoring just 6.8 points per game, and they have lost three of those contests by a combined 96 points.
Reed said his defense kept the Bulldogs in the for a while at Hattiesburg, but eventually the Tigers hit some long passes.
The loss puts Natchez in a tough spot in the region standings, and it will have to rally in the last two games to make a postseason run, Reed said.
“You usually have to win four games, and we definitely have to win out to be in contention for the playoffs,” he said.
Natchez (6-3, 2-3) will host Brandon next week.
