NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department is looking for a man who reportedly assaulted and shot at a woman with whom he was reportedly having an argument online Sunday night.
Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said a warrant has been issued for Lawrence Green, 20, 1116 Martin Luther King Jr. St., in connection with the incident.
Mullins said officers responded to a call about shots fired in the 2700 block of Itasca Drive at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. While officers were investigating on the scene, the victim and her friend came to the police department to report the assault and shooting.
Mullins said Green allegedly assaulted the 18-year-old victim because of something that was written on Facebook, an online social networking website. The woman then got in a friend’s car, and the two women were talking when Green fired shots at the car. Neither woman was injured by the bullets.
Mullins said Green is also being investigated in connection with a crime that happened several weeks ago. Mullins would not provide specific details about the investigation.
Green has been arrested multiple times this year, including a September arrest for carrying a concealed weapon and an aggravated assault arrest in July.
A cash reward is being offered for information on Green’s whereabouts. Anyone with information should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
