NATCHEZ — Services for Sam White Jr., 96, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Forest Aid Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. White was born in 1915, in Oakland, the son of Sam White Sr. and Beulah Jones. He was employed by Alcoa in Cleveland, Ohio, as a maintenance supervisor. He was retired.
Mr. White was a member of Forest Aid Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. White enjoyed woodworking and ceramics at the Natchez Senior Citizen Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willie Davis; and one sister-in-law, Emma Davis.
Survivors include one niece, Marjorie Davis; two great-nieces, Denicsheo Davis and Marie Smith Davis; one great-nephew, Bobby Davis; one great-great-niece, Jasmine Davis; three great-great-nephews, Cederick Davis, Cedric Smith Jr., and Gerald Davis; one great-great-great-niece, Kahlea Davis; one great-great-great-nephew, Karter Davis; one special niece and caregiver, Kathy Davis of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
