KINGSTON — Services for Coy L. Phipps, 69, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Phipps was born Oct. 31, 1941, in Adams County, the son of Otis Phipps and Edna Christmas Phipps.
He was a retired lab technician in Illinois with Coca Cola Enterprises Bottling Company.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lynch Phipps of Vidalia; two daughters, Christine Phipps and Kytrena Phipps Foster, both of Crete, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Tonya Givens and husband, Herbert, of Houston and Rachel Taylor and husband, Kevin, of Dallas; one granddaughter, Anaya Foster of Crete; six sisters, Thelma Dixon, Claudia P. Easton, Helen Washington and husband, Eli, Mary Phipps and Betty Phipps, all of Natchez and Eva Phipps of New Orleans; mother-in-law, Margaret Lynch of Sibley; one brother, O.W. Phipps and wife, Lizzie, of Natchez; five sisters-in-law, Polly Rice and husband, Willie, of Jackson, Mary VanManen of Richmond, Texas, Pearlie Yarborough and husband, Edison, of Brunswick, Ga., Ollie Davis and husband, James, of Oakland, Calif. and Roberta Davis of Little Rock, Ark.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews and cousins.
