CONROE, Texas — Services for Louie Ray “Mississippi” Williams, 78, of Conroe, Texas, formerly of Bude, who died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, was Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at New Testament Baptist Church in Conroe with the Rev. James Glaspie and the Rev. Randy Brigham officiating.
Burial followed at Rosewood Cemetery under the direction of Collins and Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., in Conroe.
Known by his friends as “Mississippi,” Louie Ray Williams Sr. was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Bude, the son of Carpenter Clarke and Sallie Williams. With the blessing being raised in a loving, Christian home, Louie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He attended the local schools in Bude and later relocated to Conroe where he lived until his death.
With a belief in hard work and being a provider for his family, Louie was employed by the Creso Plant in Conroe where he dedicated a number of years of service.
Mr. Williams is survived by a loving wife, Erma Williams; 10 children, Virginia Beamer, Louie Ray Williams Jr. and wife, Vivian, Arthur Lee Williams and wife, Alberta, Linda Kathy Holmes, Sandra Williams, Geffory Wayne Henery and wife, Penny, Chaney Williams, Tabatha Good and husband, M.L., Alfred Chatman and Gary Chatman; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vertis Henery; two sisters-in-law, Emma Chatman and Dorothy McNeely; two brothers-in-law, J.W. Chatman and Robert Gilford; special friend, Ruby Johnson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
