ERIC SHELTON | THE NATCHEZ DEMOCRAT — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday night at approximately 8 p.m. on Carter Street near Hickory Street and the Continental Food Mart. Vidalia Police officers remained on the scene well past 8 p.m., but would not provide details about the incident. Crime scene tape marked the area, and a shoe, presumably of the victim was left behind.

VIDALIA — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed Saturday night at approximately 8 p.m. on Carter Street near Hickory Street and the Continental Food Mart.
Tommy Warner of Vidalia was killed when he was crossing the highway, according to the Vidalia Police Department.
He was struck by a small SUV driven by Kathleen McCarthy of Jonesville, a VPD statement said.
Investigation of the accident is still open, pending routine toxicology reports. No foul play is suspected.
