PANGBURN, Ark. — Services for James S. Thomas, 85, of Pangburn, Ark., who died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home in Pangburn.
Burial will follow at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn under the direction of Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Natchez, the son of Sam and Ivy Aldridge Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the U.S. Army for 32 years and retired with the rank of first sergeant. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Medic Badge with 2nd Award, Senior Parachutist Badge, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), Korean Service Medal with Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal with 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Air Medal with 1st through 3rd Awards, Purple Heart with 4th Awards, seven Overseas Bars, Good Conduct Medal with 1st through 5th Awards and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alton and Billy Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Christel Thomas and two sisters, Catherine Thomas and Dorothy Young, both of Natchez.
