Carter, Butler can lead county forward

Adams County voters will head to the polls Tuesday to choose two key county leaders.
Two seats on the Adams County Board of Supervisors will be decided in the election. This morning, we offer our suggestions for who we feel would best lead the county.
In District 2 our choice is clear, but not without a bit of regret. Independent David Carter is challenging Democratic incumbent Henry Watts. Although Carter agreed to sit down with us and discuss the issues, Watts would not.
That underscores his inability to be an open-minded leader and communicate with all taxpayers — even ones he views as being “against” him.
Carter seems capable and comfortable talking and communicating with voters from all walks of life. His communication skills along with some fresh ideas and a generally positive, get-things-done attitude will take him far. County residents would be wise to give Carter their support.
Two political newcomers face off in the District 5 race with Democrat Calvin Butler competing against Republican Grady Wilson.
Sharing some traits with Carter, it’s Butler’s clear, comfortable communication skills that put him ahead of Wilson in our minds.
Butler has brought a number of new ideas to the table as a candidate, and we believe a few of those could turn into winners for county residents if he’s elected.
We hope, regardless of which candidates you choose, you exercise your right to vote on Tuesday. It’s the one day of the year when your government asks for you to do something to help make it better. And that one this is pretty simple: Show up to the polls and show you care about the county’s future.
