FERRIDAY — Services for William Harvey “Bill” Smith, 86, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Alexandria, La., the son of George Irvin and Minnie Bell Smith. He was a retired engineer with the Missouri Pacific Railroad, a Mason and Shriner. He was Baptist.
Mr. Smith proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Smith.
Survivors include three daughters, Judith and Dickinson Gustafson of Forrest City, N.C., Marian McJohnson and husband, Mike, of Clayton and Lois Brown and husband, David, of Natchez; two sisters, Doris Miller of Dallardsville, Texas and Lois Credeur of Pineville, La.; seven grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Cox, Ruth Ann Cruz Juan, Michael Lee Ford, Marissa Beasley, Cody McJohnson, Jessica Lynn Skates and Lexi Grace Brown; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Skates, Ray Skates, James Bradshaw, Lovice Beard, Uel Beard and Mark Johnese.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Ezell and Roy Wagoner.
