World War I plaques to be re-dedicated

NATCHEZ — City, county and federal officials will unveil four new World War I memorial plaques in a ceremony at the city’s federal courthouse at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The plaques will include names of Natchez area black soldiers that served in World War I that were omitted when the plaques were originally placed on the courthouse in 1924 during the height of the Jim Crow era. The plaques will also include the names of white servicemen left out of the memorial
Two officials from the U.S. General Service Administration will be at the ceremony, as well as Natchez Mayor Jake Middleton and Adams County Board of Supervisors President Darryl Grennell.
