NATCHEZ — Services for Floyd Elliott Rice, 62, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Milford Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Alsworth officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.
Visitations will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Rice was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Natchez, the son of Floyd Rice Sr. and Bertha Foster Rice.
He was educated in the Adams County Public Schools and Alcorn State University. He was drafted in the NFL in 1971 and played for the Houston Oilers, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, where he was a member of the 1976 Super Bowl champions and the New Orleans Saints. After retiring his NFL career, Floyd worked for the Wilkinson County Corrections Facility (CCA).
Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Princess Rice.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristen Johnson of Woodville and Kimberly Bennekin and husband, Mario, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one grandchild, Asa Bennekin of Stone Mountain; companion and caregiver, Nancy Johnson of Woodville; six siblings, Lee Oscar Rice of Hawthorne, Calif., Charlie Rice of Natchez, Johnny Rice of Vidalia, Albert Rice of Detroit, Mich., Brenda Scott of Jackson and Travis Rice of Natchez; god father, P.D. Stewart of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
