Mrs. Carlisle was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Tylertown, the daughter of Sidney Dolphus Holmes and Sally Pittman Holmes.

She graduated from Tylertown High School in 1946 and from Southwest Mississippi Junior College in 1948. On Sept. 25, 1949, she married the love of her life, Jim Carlisle in Fernwood. The next 50 plus years were spent taking care of her loved ones. She not only cared for her husband and daughters, but she cared for many extended family members through the years, including her brother who was born with cerebral palsy and came to live with Mrs. Carlisle and her family in 1971.

Mrs. Carlisle was an active member of Parkway Baptist Church for many years where she taught children’s Sunday school classes and volunteered in other ministries. She also enjoyed her weekly games of Cootie and Bunco with her longtime close friends. Her smile and laughter were seldom missing from her beautiful face, and she spread joy everywhere she went.

The last nine and a half years of Mrs. Carlisle’s life were spent at the Adams County Nursing Center where she received tender, loving care. The family wants to thank the entire staff and former staff members. They also want to thank Dr. Ken Stubbs and the staff at Internal Medicine and Associates. The family has asked that memorials be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society shelter, Parkway Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of almost 60 years, James Henry “Jim” Carlisle and dear brother, Sidney Dolphus “Jack” Holmes Jr.
